World Cup Memorilia (or however you spell it)
therefore, we shall bring the World Cup to a close today, by naming the best and the worst teams in the tournament. this is entirely my opinion, so if you have anything to take to court about it, do it. i dare you. stupid losers. or you could just set up a blog, post your own entry and come straight back at me. i dare you.
SO, we kick this off with:
the best team:
who else but the azzurri could be more deserving of this award? a 2-0 win over a brave and confident ghana side was slightly knocked off balance by that 1-1 draw with the US. but their campaign was pushed firmly back on track with a 2-0 win over world number 2 the czech republic. a nail biting, last minute win over Australia did nothing to help their cause, but that 3-0 thrashing of Ukraine, followed by the nerves of steel that they displayed in beating the home team germany 2-0 in extra time made them almost a shoo-in for the award. it just needed that last confirmation: and it came perfectly this morning.
and all this while a gigantic footballing scandal threatening the future of 13 of the squad's players was brewing back home. and to think you worry about your pet cat eating the goldfish -.-
the worst team:
i'm sorry, i'm sorry. ok wait i'm not. it just had to be said: for too long have they had their compliments in this tournament that it has begun to burn my ears. italy diving? germany showed off their theatrical skills on the pitch against argentina, especially when odonkor threw himself to the ground when tevez hadnt even brushed a hair on his leg. minutes later he was up, or down to be exact. it was his studs that were up; and headed straight for cambiasso.
and what of their captain ballack? bullying ayala in the penalty area just because he's taller?
best referee:
call it nationalism, whatever, he was dreadfully unlucky not to have been selected for the quarters. his performances were near-flawless, though he might have chosen to award avery john his red card more sooner than later. but besides that his decisions were creditable, and not the least bit biased, unlike our next personality, who is none other than the...
worst referee:
(: need i say more?
well, i'm kinda tired and you know, anger and pissedness needs time to subside. therefore i shall stop here (for now) before any other people get pissed.
just one note: don't try to take it out on the tagboard.
